Derek Martin is the founder and leader of Sports & Entertainment Atlantic. Since launching in 2006, S|E|A’s services have continued to expand and today focus on not only sponsorship marketing, but also event and VIP corporate hospitality services.

A St. FX alumni, Martin’s breadth of experience managing sponsorship and activation programs has led S|E|A to establish itself as the leading provider of sports and entertainment support in the Atlantic Canadian marketplace.

S|E|A’s major clients have included Tall Ships NS, the NS Gaming Corporation, Volleyball Canada, Sir Paul McCartney, Kiss, Pepsi and Rogers. The company has also successfully executed VIP ticketing programs for the CFL, St. Mary’s University football, the Uteck Bowl and the upcoming U2 concert in Moncton.

Recently, Martin proudly announced plans for S|E|A to embark on its greatest venture yet: promoting and organizing the upcoming 2011 FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch Junior World Championships on the Halifax Waterfront.

In his early days, Martin earned a bachelor of arts from St. Francis Xavier University while simultaneously leading the X-Men varsity football team to the Vanier Cup in 1996. This led to a stint playing football in Europe, before then becoming an event manager at Sport Nova Scotia. Following this, Martin became the director of events for True Gravity Sports & Entertainment in Toronto where he managed all aspects of the Vanier Cup, including marketing, ticket sales and sponsorship agreements.

Following this, Martin served as the director of development for the Abilities Foundation of Nova Scotia. Here, he managed several innovative event properties such as ‘Lobsters in the City’ and ‘Drop Zone’.

Since launching his company in 2006, Martin has become a member of the national sponsorship community and has spoken at both the Sponsorship Marketing Report Conference in Toronto in 2007 as well as the Western Sponsorship Congress in Calgary in 2008.
